When using a CD, most white light sources produce a blurry, not well defined spectrum.

[ ] Find a white light source that produces a nice spectrum without too much stray light

Different flashlights (handheld, phone) and incandescent light bulbs have been tried, but they are always either too powerful (causing too much stray light to get any well defined spectrum), or have other issues (polarized light on flashlights). This is especially difficult to use with a CD used to diffract light.
