What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. extract pdf2json-0.65.tar.gz
2. cat -v Makefile

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The expected output is that the files must use UNIX style line endings.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
pdf2json 0.65
