I have an incoming SIU message in a channel. When viewing the source message in "Raw" form, syntax highlighting makes the message much easier to read than without it. It contains the following text colors on a white background:
Segment names: purple
Separators: black
Numeric fields: red
In one particular message, a field contains a # character and that # character through the end of the line is all yellow-on-white which is (a) not east to read and (b) probably not as intended. The # character has no inherent meaning in HL7, and shouldn't be used as a syntax highlighting cue.
