Issue with latest bus master software version 1.6.7 #283

Hello,

It is very nice tool and appreciated your efforts.

I have installed latest version and tried but not working so I have installed older version 1.6.4 then its working.

I am able to see message from the ECU on the version 1.6.4 but not on v1.6.7.I have folloed same procedure for both the version.

Note: 1.6.7 is working with Vector XL and not working with PEAK.

Please look into the issue and let me know.

We introduced a new project configuration format. Old settings may be lost. So, have you checked that the controller configuration (baudrate, sample point) is correct?

Yes, I hadn't used old version configuration file.

I have followed below steps after installation: Step 1: Configue->Hardware Interface and selected PEAK USB Step 2: Configue->Controller - Baud Rate to 250kbps,BTR0 to 0x43,BTR1 to 0x14, No.Of sample/Bit to 1 abd Warning Limit to 96. Step 3: Functions->Connect

Please let me know if the above settings are wrong.

Hello,

I got another issue with Database file.

Got error log while converting DBC to DBF using utilities option and its working data base file as I am using for CANalyzer.

I have tried to resolve those errors but most of the errros are related to signals.

The error ACTION: Value Set to default, will come when the dbc signals are defined with same Minimum and Maximum value.The converter will change these signal values to their default values.

The error ACTION: Signal Discarded will come, if dbc Signal is not associated to any dbc message.

  1. STATUS:No error,ACTION: Signal Discarded, can be ignored since the signal is not used in any message.
  2. STATUS: Invalid Max or Min value., ACTION: Value Set to default, can be ignored since the maximum and values are set to default values
  3. Error STATUS: Invalid start bit, ACTION: Signal Discarded, is a real error.Can u check the start bit of signal in message (Ex DM43).Probably that value may be out of range compared to message length.

Also can you provide the information like the BUSMASTER version you are currently using and the Database Protocol type (CAN or J1939).

I have tried to configure dbf file (with above errors in the error log) to my configuration but got “Invalid DBF File” message on the message window.

and more over its working DBC for CANcase.

Currently I am using 1.6.4 as 1.6.7 is not working with PEAK USB.

I have checked length of DM43 message and it is 22 bytes i.e 176 bits.

SIG_NAME: DTC5, STATUS: Invalid start bit, ACTION: Signal Discarded SIG_NAME: DTC4, STATUS: Invalid start bit, ACTION: Signal Discarded SIG_NAME: DTC3, STATUS: Invalid start bit, ACTION: Signal Discarded

DTC3: start bit is 80 and its length is 32bits DTC4: start bit is 112 and its length is 32 bits DTC5:start bit is 144 and its length is 32 bits.

I think above are within the range.

Sorry I didnt understand Database Protocol type (CAN or J1939) .Do we have seperate database file for CAN and j1939?

Since some Messages are having the length more than 8bytes, I think the dbc file is having some higher level protocol(like J1939) messages. So, when you try to associate the converted file as CAN database file, BUSMASTER was failing.

Ok..Then how to convert J1939 DBC to DBF file using busmaster software v1.6.4. This option is available in v 1.6.7 and got same errors.

I didnt get any error like "Error STATUS: Invalid start bit, ACTION: Signal Discarded" but still unable to associate it.

1) Associated dbf (generated by using DBC to DBF convertor) and got " xxx.dbf is not created for CAN.Since one of the message length exceeds 8 bytes"

I'm using 1.67 as well with the Peak USB and whenever I close the Programm, then I get the message "Unhandled exception in BUSMASTER. Would you like to save a Dump file?" I have stored this dumpfile and a busmaster.tempcfx I don't get this message when I'm using the v164

I'm also getting the same conversion issue with a J1939 DBC file that works in CANdb++. When I use the convert J1939 DBC to DBF and try to open in BUSMASTER, I get this error:

"DBF is not created for CAN. Please load CAN related DBF file."

The BUSMASTER application has separate viewers for CAN and J1939 database files. The CAN database file has to be opened/ associated in BUSMASTER application using menu option File-> Database -> Open... or File-> Database -> Associate.... The J1939 database file has to be opened/ associated in BUSMASTER application using menu option J1939 -> Database -> Open or J1939 -> Database -> Associate.
