Difference between original DBC-file and converted DBF-file #499

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

first I want to congratulate you to this versatile and interesting tool! This is really an alternative to Vector after little improvements. The user interface has shown major improvements since the v1.8.

But now to my problem: I am user of the common DBC-format and have converted my file into the DBF-format. Some warnings appeared after the conversion regarding invalid MIN and MAX values.

Then I have checked the differences between both message layouts and found out, that the scale factor of the DBF signal was wrong. Every signal with a scale factor <1 in the DBC-File has been set to 0.0 in the DBF-File during the conversion.

This difference prevents a correct interpretation of the CAN-signals, so this is very dangerous.

Attached you can find a screenshot with comparison of both CAN Message Layouts.

yes, #499 seems to be the same issue. I´m sorry, that I haven´t checked the open issues before.

I´m unpatiently waiting on the release of v2.0 and v2.01, where bugfix #499 is solved. Is there no further development happening or are there big problems implementing flexray?

Can you please give me a short answer when the next release is planned?

Let's follow this up in #498, because this more adequately describes the problem.

A fix for this is already available. However you are right that there are currently some issues that hinder the release of the v2.0.0. Therefore we discussed today that we plan now for a v1.8.1 that contains the fix for it.
