Today I Learned...

Today was all about events. We were given actives to solidify the concepts learned over the last couple of days, including:

• Using event.preventDefault when submitting forms
  • Ex. function handleSubmit(event) { event.preventDefault();
• Window alerts when you are submitting forms, and using interpolation to personalize those messages once the form is submitted
  • Ex. if (canDrink) { document.body.innerHTML = "

• Using .querySelectorAll to target a group of items from the DOM
• Looping multiple events using the .forEach function
  • Ex. buttons.forEach(function(buttons) { buttons.addEventListener('click', cookTheClosestChicken); })
• Using the Number() function when you are adding strings and numbers which can be tricky
• Anonymous functions don’t need a declaration, it depends on the syntax of the tool calling
• When writing functions:
  • Use .example for classes
  • Use #example for IDs
• Using “for” tags in HTML for accessibility reasons is best practice
• Elements queried in JS have a .style  can be used to manipulate CSS styles and it takes precedence
  • JS overrides any CSS styles
