Data provenance/transcription for production elements #151

We recently received an email to the DCRM RDA account re: transcription and data provenance for production elements:

0.1.5 Sources of information: Should "production" be separated from "publication, distribution, manufacture" in the 0.1.5.1 table and the 0.1.5.2 transcription instructions? Unique items, like manuscripts, come to mind when I think of production. Often their source of information is broader, and transcription isn't required.

We may not be able to address this until we incorporate mss. instructions, but it's worth considering how to handle this as we incorporate others formats (graphics, etc.) that may be unpublished.

I'd wait until the G draft comes around to discuss it, since that work-in-progress will be suggesting re-wording for other reasons* and because DCRM(G) has the same transcription rules for printed and hand-drawn resources. It's only when DCRM(MSS) comes into the picture that things change.

*The other reasons relate to multi-leaf resources versus single-sheet resources: it's the expectation of a title page that makes the primary difference, not the text-ness or picture-ness of the resource.
