Windows Command Line - %date:~x,y% not working, lost #15

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try using the wintee command with the %date% variable for filename creation

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
echo %date:~4,10% | wtee C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\test-%date:~4,10%-log.txt"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Running Windows 8.1 x64, wtee 1.0.1

Please provide any additional information below.

Tried creating batch file with wintee to a show console output and output to 
file by date-filename creation. Couldn't get the Windows Command Line %date% to 
work properly with wintee.
