calculation and simulation of coefficient of error #18

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
If we could solve the issue 17, the number of ontersections between a point
grid and the objects could be used in order to calculate the coefficient of
error of this estimate produced by using the point grid.

A detailed example including all the formulas is in the attached spreadsheet.

The purpose and potential benefit of this issue: we would be able to
simulate geometric properties of a point grid and a number of sections
needed for stereological estimate of volume in objects of known geometrical
properties (i.e. in typical muscle cells similar to very elongated
ellipsoids, etc.).

In other words - wit the results of the issue 18 would be able to simulate, what
number of sections would be needed for quantification of objects with acceptable
amount of error (i.e., sufficiently low value of CE<0.05) and suitable number of
intersections (i.e., > 200 but < 600).
