What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. IE7 Document mode
2. span:before
3. doesn't work

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

IE10 in IE7 doc mode: doesn't work;
IE7 on WinXP (VMware): works fine.
