Possible license violations: Distribution of binary files without license information #21

Looking at https://github.com/rcenvironment/rce/tree/master/de.rcenvironment.binaries.tiglviewer.win32.x86_64/resources/binaries, I see the following binary files:

At least for Qt I can point you to an FAQ entry (point 3.7 under https://www.qt.io/faq/). I am assuming that you do not have a commercial Qt license. I cannot copy&paste from that page, but the second bullet point basically says that you have to also distribute the source code of Qt (and that just providing a link to "upstream" is not enough).

(While we are at it: You might also double check the last bullet point which requires a prominent notice)

Disclaimer: IANAL

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We have contacted the developers of that software and will address this as soon as possible.

The TiGL Viewer binary, which uses the Qt DLLs has the following dialog with Qt informations: QtLicense

We have removed the TiGL Viewer binaries from the current Release 9.1.0 and added a configuration option that allows the user to supply their self-installed own instance of this program. As a next step, we will also provide another release for the RCE 8.X series to resolve the issue there as well.

Thanks again for bringing this up to us.

In the current RCE 8.3 release we have removed the TiGL Viewer binaries in the same way as in version 9.1 and the option to integrate self-installed instances has been added here as well.
