link to the loomio poll

Wednesday 3/28 at 6PM EDT i'll be having a 30 Minute meet and greet meeting with Rich and Nati(co-founders of loomio.org and founders of thehumm.org consultation company) That may result in consulting services on decentralized governance. I'm hoping to use this rank choice survey to propose and prioritize questions we have on the subject of decentralized decision making.

please participate so its the most effective use of both ours and there time.

Hello

I had the call with thehum.org team yesterday and @Jake-Gillberg sat in on it.

Here is a summary of there answers to the top 3 questions. It was only 30 minutes so we couldn't dive too in depth, but we have plans to follow up with them next week.

  1. What stack of tools do you find most effective for decentralized decision making? Answer) We find that tools fall into three categories and cycle in usages. a. Real-time communication - signal, zoom, sms b. Asynchronous communication - forum, discord, the easier to store and aggregate the better(forum) c. Static - Github wiki/webpages, - something that remains static but can be updated with new information

  2. What tools do you think would make decentralized decision making more effective but don't exist? Answer) Firstly there's a differentiation of digital tools and more sociological tools.

Digital tools - a.Want loomio to add a suite of decision making options. Meaning frameworks to choose from for how to make different decisions depending on your organizations structure. For example you could choose typical corporate governance, sociocracy, etc etc. b. Get better at advise-based decision making process modeled in tools. we didn't dive into this but that's interesting to learn exactly what he meant. c. Get better at consent-based decision making process modeled in tools again didn't dive deep but that's interesting point d. Better support to navigate organization at scale. modeling the patterns from "me" to "us" to "team" to "organizations" to "sectors" etc. there are patterns in all of them that overlap and can be applied to connect each level, but there is not that much of a tool for that.

Sociological tools They gave one example of "hands up shut up" which is a meeting "technology" that is used to get a room quite very quickly if it turns to babble.

  1. How do you manage expectations in community? Ultimately its very up to the presenter to be as clear as possible. Be clear as to the process, who are the stakeholders deciding, who are the names, and how the community is suppose to interact with the presentation.

Again it was only a 30 minute convo full with introductions and background, but I could tell that they are very passionate and grounded in their approach to decentralized decision making. I'm looking forward to following up.

Nice report. These guys have obviously spent a lot of time thinking about (decentralized) decision making. Looking forward to your follow up too, let's foster a relationship.
