Hi @JoshOrndorff sorry about that, kindly check again
For a start up I think the RChain Africa meet up that held on the 9th of June at awka was enlightening, we are expecting more of it to come and more better and productive. At first, it was like," how do we organize it? " but so far we had and subsequent meet ups would be better than this, it was a success. Cheers!
@David405 I'm so glad you were able to host this meetup and look forward to hearing more about future events!
I did want to point out the guidelines and budget for local meetups as specified in this document from January 2018: https://github.com/rchain/bounties/wiki/local-meetup-program:-summary
If you feel like the work done at the meetup exceeds the budge guidelines, it would be helpful to either:
It looks like you put a lot of work into the event and I want to make sure you are compensated accordingly.
@deannald it's great to know you are anticipating future meetups and we won't fail to keep you abreast of our activities and progress reports. Yes, I am aware of the guidelines you posted in your comment, perhaps, an additional elaborate information concerning our expenses ( aside from the ones listed in my initial comment) will make you feel more comfortable with the budget placed.
More than 20 hours was put into organizing the event, preparing the hall, preparing lecture notes ( I, personally, was up the whole night prior to the event, preparing study materials such as #797, testing RNode on my computer over and over again to ensure I encounter no errors during the event and trying to familiarize myself with any type of error that can occur during the process). $740
Prior to the event, there was a lot of interactions with the university community and software companies to spur their interests in RChain and invite them to the event. #681 $250
A professional event manager was hired and she was proved really useful in planning the event, putting in place logistics, preparing snacks, lunch, and drinks. $150
Electricity is a major challenge in Nigeria and so we used an alternative source of power (AC generator) both in the preparation (check my first point) and during the event. $300
Internet was provided both for the anchor and the audience during the event, especially during the node testing session. $150
A professional video editor was hired to work on the video clips ( it cost a little more time and money to enhance the quality of the videos since the hall wasn't optimized for a video). $350
I don't if the efforts are convincing enough for you but I would love your feedback and input.
@David405 - Thanks this is a great help! It looks like a ton of work went in to hosting this event (and I'm sure struggling to get the node setup was nerve wracking especially during an event :) ). If you can assign budget estimations for each of the above bullets so we can see how they roll up to $3000 that would be useful in voting.
It is good to know you are interested in this, the budgets have been updated in my comments, feel free to express your opinion on each.
@David405 @Valentine-Mario @Ojimadu @nonnykul I have created a skeleton for RChain Africa Community Report Jun 2018 in Members/CommunityBuildingWorldwide repo https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zRWt43P7UXFs99FGJD_TQnVNeebJ2dlG2Fv06BF_E_Q
I request that you write the June report and include this and other activities from your community (node setup,DoCC, forum and others). Writing this report might be an opportunity for @Pionelle , @casanwugo and others to participate as well. You may increase your budget recommendation for this issue or make it into a separate issue analogous to #803 (China community June report). Once the report is started (or completed) I'll be happy to vote on whichever issues you need voted and I will likely follow whatever %reward suggestions you make.
Thanks! -@allancto
@allancto the report has been written and an issue #824 has been created to address it.
