Merge26 complex to master #47

This should be the PR to sort out the 26-Complex and 28-Fix Decimal branches.

Akshay, I'd appreciate it if you could benchmark this branch as you did your "mergedBranch." If it seems OK, we will merge it with master.

I am merging this into master after having thoroughly checked the performance figures. I am satisfied that this is the good version.
