NHS Login (for Patients)

If we are to have a patient facing platform for users to validate the information held on them within Epilepsy12, it would be ideal to integrate this with NHS Login. The process approval for NHS Login is quite involved.

Important to note that NHS Login is for patients to log in, it allows us to benefit from the identity verification that is already done for access to such things as NHS App and Patient Online Access to GP Records. We would use the same identity provision. You can see why the assurance process is quite involved, since they cannot allow poor practice to become accredited.

Staff access would use a different mechanism to allow them to use their NHSmail account or other credentials to easily login. Sadly a lot of this is still legacy and relies on Smart Cards. (Which it turns out were not all that Smart a move) A Smart Card replacement has been talked about for a decade.
