fails to return to options menu #32

steps to reproduce

choose options 1-3, when 3 pops up the selector and the second graph opens, choose no expected behavior: return to graph 1 without writing. actual behavior: writes the selection anyway and finishes the script.

refactoring the code again. we'll see if this is necessary.
