New bulk email sending requirements (starting Feb 1, 2024) #112

From a NB support email I received this week:

Starting February 1st, 2024, Google and Yahoo! will be enforcing new bulk email sending requirements to reduce spam and phishing. You can learn more about the eight requirements from this help document or by watching the video below.

There is one action required on your part (you are managing your domain's DNS settings so we can’t do this for you): you’ll need to configure a DMARC record and add it in your domain management system. You'll need to do this before February 1st 2024 or else risk having your emails get filtered out or rejected by both Google and Yahoo.

How do I configure a DMARC record?

You can find DMARC record generators online, like MXToolbox, which will create a record and help you monitor the results. You can also simply look for “DMARC generator” to find a free online tool.

The way you add a DMARC record to your domain management system varies by provider. Here are the instructions for the most popular providers:

From NationBuilder email received 2024.01.22:

It looks we sent you the wrong email last week, and we're truly sorry for any confusion that may have caused.

We said you needed to configure a DMARC record ahead of Feb 1st (when Google & Yahoo sender requirements will change) but there is actually no action required on your part.

Since NationBuilder manages your domain(s), we will be taking care of all the requirements for you. We'll be generating records for all of your NationBuilder-managed domains ahead of Feb 1st to ensure there is no disruption when the change kicks in. You can learn more in our support documentation.

You’ll also soon see a new section in your domain settings, where you'll be able to generate/update DMARC records from the control panel, but there is no action required there either.

Please let us know if anything is still unclear by replying to this email and our support team will be happy to help.
