Journal starts with volume 13 in 1907, for which BHL has two items but assigns on item to this journal and one to its predecessor. In 1929 series 2 starts so volume numbering is reset to 1. Series 2 ends in 1970, journal then splits into various series 3 and 4 journals. Prior to 1923 BHL has duplicate items for each volume, from 1923 onwards volumes are unique.

Note that article layout changed with volume 20 (1914) when each article started on a new page. Prior to this the same page could have both the end of one article and the start of the next. This has implications for computing the ending page of articles for which we have only starting pages (i.e., ending page need not be page immediately before next article).
