I see a lot of projects moving away from GPL to MIT or BSD. I think the reason is that for small projects it does not fulfill the idea of code reuse and contribution. The perception is becoming that it is viral and does not allow for real commercialization. If you goal to is prevent commercialization then GPL effectively does this unless the software can used as a service. I think also people are realizing that in order for a project to thrive that it needs a community. In order to have a community you really need to have a way for people to benefit from their efforts or just have the potential to benefit from their efforts. People still need to eat and buy stuff to survive. So that really dampens the enthusiasm from doing things for free just because it is a good thing to share. So MIT or BSD licenses in my opinion do a better job of bringing people to share their efforts with a community.

What license do you see it having presently?

When I click on license is the source files it shows this:

Contact me about a (free) open source license. Basically I can release the code under "some license", but it cannot be GPL, or so I'm told. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsdirectshowdevelopment/thread/a3e8f60b-39e4-4621-837b-50a9a9a469b7/

For my stuff I have been using MIT. Here is a link to some code I have written: http://www.garagegames.com/community/resources/view/217
