3.1.3 What about the SIM Card? #112

Closed sbecot closed 8 years ago

sbecot commented 8 years ago

In 3.1.3 is written: " In secure computing, a smart card is a typical card with a built-in computer chip. Until a few years ago, it was only used to produce credit and debit cards" --> What about the SIM Card? A section about this is probably missing. 3.1.3.3 --> Certification may be missing (for ex SIM cert.)

Since we abandoned our initial decision to deploy the hyperty runtime on SIM cards, I'd suggest that we entirely remove this section. It doesn't make sense anymore. What do you think?

I don't know if it's a good idea or not to deploy the runtime in the SIM Card, but, the SIM card may be used as a trusted secure element, for storage of certificates for example, and maybe for the ID Module. I would prefer to keep it, but with a slight modification indicating that smart card are used also for SIM. For a project with 3 Telcos, we shouldn't forget it.

Ok, agree. I'll take care of that.

Added a brief overview about SIM card security on github. Going to close this issue.
