I believe we could send system notifications from the Chrome extension out to Growl. Isn't there an open spec for that now? If so, holding conversations between tabs would be much easier.

Can the browser extensions be the glue that brings a bunch of disparate pages together? The glue that makes Reading a HipChat level app?
