An EPUB 3 file may contain a page-list nav element which is used quite often in academic settings.

It would be nice if the toolkit made the current page number(s) available to reading system creators for reflowable publications.

Here are download links for two New York University Press Books that have a page list. These are open access books and can be used freely elsewhere. NYU Press Books
