This will also require a validation step on import to identify invalid transcriptions, misaligned TCMs, and misaligned aksara counts.

It would be a great help for many text-manipulation tasks if the following was possible:
Export the transcription of a READ edition to a structured plain-text format (maybe as simple as line number + TAB + transcription).
Change the transcription around in an external tool.
Re-import the transcription.
Have READ perform comparison with the old transcription, propose a best-effort realignment of baseline and analysis link to the user, have the user manually improve and approve that, reattach accordingly and drop whatever cannot be reattached.
(This would be similar to and improvement of the re-linker that Andrew wrote for Azes.)
