Hello! Yes, of course! You can add any ebuild from this overlay to the tree.
But it is worth considering that ethminer has a terrible build system and every release will require further development. And also, for the current release, I didn't test CUDA support. I would like to leave 9999 in the overlay. Do I need to drop both?
I happen to be a big fan of -9999 ebuilds so I'd like to take that too.
Regarding CUDA, I only have an Intel CPU and an AMD GPU, so I can't test that either unfortunately.
May be 9999 ⟶ 9999-r1 ?
This hunter mess is terribly annoying. I'm not really comfortable maintaining a package with so many sed
s.... I didn't realize the state of the ethminer project was so non-standard.
I suspected that this package does not belong in the tree. :)
@candrews maybe you can contribute to the discussion at ethereum-mining/ethminer#219 .
@EoD I think the authors of the project do not intend to change this bastard approach of development. We need to drop this shit-Hunter completely. :)
Well, if you don't ask, you will never know. I do think that they are willing to listen to a compromise if you have some idea.
I'm a Gentoo developer and I'm quite interested in getting ethminer into Portage.
Would you mind if I grabbed your ebuild and used it? And would you be interested in maintaining it with me (and therefore dropping it from this overlay)?
Thanks!
