When the player fights multiple enemies at once, they are often overwhelmed with little chance of victory due to the new leveling system, although at higher levels the same issue occurred under the old system.
Describe the solution you'd like
Multiple enemy fights when solo should not be treated like normal fights, being reserved for bosses, obstacles meant to be avoided, optional high reward fights, or even just adding allies to them to make them not solo vs many.
For obstacles, avoid placing them too early on in Nodes to avoid blocking progression, and especially avoid placing them on the first node.
