Verify that Woo Services plugin is configured correctly #8

Walk through the shipping process to learn why shipping is not performing correctly. and make adjustments so that the output rate from Woo Services UPS API connection === The output rate from UPS site during the final purchase of shipping.

What we know.

What we have asked the client to do I have asked Paul to contact UPS and to elevate the problem with a UPS rep and with UPS tech support. He will try. He is also not especially geared to succeed here. He will likely ask us to take back over on any UPS tech support requests of him beyond toggling buttons. He and I have discussed this and support is what we are here for. This may result in a three-way call or a scenario where we call UPS tech support on the client's behalf. We will wait to see where Paul gets on this.

What do we have control over We could toggle some changes in the Woo Services UPS Configuration or perhaps make some implementation changes based on Paul's UPS contracted pricing or his UPS settings.

What we do not have control over is the UPS configuration. I guess we could modify settings within UPS, but I don't have a playbook there. Other than trying to lend a helping hand, we don't have the history to modify UPS account settings. It would have to be a learning opportunity.

Desired assistance? Do what we can. Perhaps @d4mation @brashrebel @joelworsham you may know someone who does know how to set up the UPS side of things or has walked this path. We could hire them to do this. I will actually put out a request in the WP Ann Arbor Slack Team to see if someone there can lend a hand. and start asking around.

Two things I've identified as potential problems. The dimensions are in cm not inches, on the site. Was that intentional? The other is that I put a couple of horns in my cart and received a series of errors for each one in the dashboard that the dimensions were required. This may be flying in the face of the client's desire to use weight only.

the client's desire to use weight only.

I know that often when shipping things, this is not possible. Both size and weight are used to calculate shipping due to the size of the box being shipped being a factor in the amount of space it takes on the truck.

The dimensions are in cm not inches, on the site

I did not touch this, so this is how it has been.

From what I can tell with my understanding of the system, I think the lack of entered dimensions may play a role here. Whenever I add an item to my cart and then go to the Dashboard, I get a notice saying that item needs dimensions entered in order to calculate shipping rates.

I wonder if without them, a fallback rate is being shown to the customer (Because one is shown), but then whet they are going to make the labels that it then shows the higher price because UPS doesn't use the same fallback.

Sent HelpScout email to the client on this issue asking for feedback on whether adding dimensions clears the issue.

BigActual commented 5 years ago

Still not correct. The client must enter their USPS custom box sizes into WooCommerce >> Settings >> Shipping >> WooCommerce Services >> Add Boxes image

Victoria is aware and will enter those today.
