The WP core gallery shortcode when used through Render presents somewhat of an inferior experience when compared to proceeding through the Add Media interface. I'd like to explore a better way of handling this. Here's the experience expressed by @EngageWP:
"When I went to add a gallery, I saw that the attachment IDs need to be inserted manually. Having to retrieve the IDs for each image can become a lot of work, especially with larger galleries. Adding the ability to select images via the default media manager popup would be a major benefit here."
