need a module to

[ ] scan input file to define signal contents
[ ] load signals into the format appropriate for analyzer and visualizers
[ ] address potential signal name collisions (apparently multiple channels in an EDF can have similar names - would require matching by signal index)
[ ] address potential sample_frequency differences
