Continuing Education Credits for Symposium: Should we have? #4

Elizabeth says: Hi All

I reached out to Rick to see if we should arrange CLEs for the Symposium. He said Steve Elson does do this. Steve said he does and they need a TON of information from us, including presentation materials, agendas, and more. It also takes time to set this up.

Do we feel the need to do this for the Symposium? If so, can someone take the lead on it to see if we can make it happen.

I have never done this before, but happy to forward Steve's email indicating what they need to pull this off.

Thanks!

James Wogan says: I'm not sure that it is necessary to offer CEU's at this point. We have a great deal of interest already and, it's not something that we promised to participants.

The CA Alliance (Caroll Shroeder) Conference offered CEU's last year. Each presenter needed to submit a CV, a description of their qualifications in the specific subject area, the training agenda / outline, and a copy of all training materials that were used, including references.

If others feel that we should offer CEU's Derek Wang (one of my amazing social workers) and Evelyn (Resource Worker) in my office School Linked Services will help to gather information and work with Steve E. to meet the requirements. It's our Spring Break next week so they would concentrate efforts after 4/4/16.

PS It might help anyway (with funders for example) to gather everyone's CVs, bio, and description of areas of expertise, honors, and awards - and prepare us to offer CEU's the next time around.

Also for participants - beyond job title and agency, it could be helpful to know the specific area in which they are working related to inter-agency collaboration, and access to services.

PS2 Mt. Diablo Unified is getting an award tomorrow from the NASW, for our hiring, training, and support for Social Workers, and our Social Work (MSW) Intern-training program.

Maureen says I love James’ response, especially that Mt Diablo is getting an award for their Social Work! Congratulations! The first PS, though, about this maybe being a good idea for funders and the future anyway is right on. I don’t personally feel it is critical - or even doable - at this point, but I do agree the process and options are good ideas. If there is a resounding yes, and James’ school-linked services could help, I’m all for it!

Mildred says I agree with Maureen and James. I do not think its necessary at this time. However gathering resumes and bios may be helpful. Thanks Mildred
