Coloring Icons

Hello,
I don't know how I did not come across all the goodies you have created 
and accumulated. Excelent job !

Any problem with existing icons ?

It would be usefull to be able to use the icons in various colors (i.e. a 
Green farm icon, a Red farm icon, a Yellow Farm icon etc.)

Hi Tsvika Rubin,

We use the background color to define what type of icon it is, therefor we are
currently not doing different backgrounds for all icons.  With that said I know 
that
Nico and Thierry where working on a "background-color-generator" where you 
basically
can create what ever color you like for your background.  Those icons won't be 
hosted
here though, you need to host them your self, I believe.  With that said you can
always download the template files in Photoshop format and change the 
background you
your preferred color, the hosting of the icon needs to be don by you in this 
case as
well.

Thank you for a very quick response and the work-around suggestion.

While I understand your argument about one color per category, I'd like to 
explain 
more my view on this issue.

Usually I creat a Map in Google My maps towards a holiday. This may end up with 
a 
number of markers of the same category and type (several lodging markers, 
several 
museum markers, several castel markers, several theme park markers etc.). When 
all 
museums on my map have the same icon with the same color, this makes it very 
difficult to quickly identify which is which. The same goes for the other icons 
on 
my map.

Using different colors for each museum would make it much easier. Another 
helping 
solution could have been if a small annotaion could be added to the icon like a 
one 
or two charater string (digits, letters) to make it easier to identify which is 
which.

Would you reconsider ?

Hi Tsvika,

I hope you have fond good use of our icons and managed to make some nice 
holiday maps as well?  I'm going to close this request as we will not action 
it. Your only option is to use the templates to create your own icons (you will 
need to put them on your server as well).  Even though I understand your 
argument perfectly it will just be to much work for us to add numbers to icons, 
we want to spend o creating new requested icons, and we will not change 
background, we need those to be consistent to show what type of icon it is.
