I did some cleanup of the code you might be interested in, happy to strip down to a subset if you think this is "over the top" :)

Rebus is MIT-licensed. The code submitted in this pull request needs to carry the MIT license too. By leaving this text in, I hereby acknowledge that the code submitted in the pull request has the MIT license and can be merged with the Rebus codebase.

If the blind code cleanup is in a separate commit, you're most welcome to revert that commit and send a new PR 😺
