I am really keen on supporting. Does the pc app allow uploading of new maps?

recom3 commented 1 year ago

Good day, Thx for your comment. You mean the Oakley Airwave or Recon Jet? The first ones, you know are bundled with some resorts maps, that can be updated. In the second case, you can load any area of interest. In the two cases the map format are different (double work to develop). Loading the maps from our Uplink Desktop is not complex. Now the works are in the Web Site to produce the maps. This work is taking place at this moment. This week we have released the trip map section in the web, where you can see your trips. We will keep you posted. Best regards.

Thanks for the reply. I have an airwave 1.5 and need to load new maps to the goggles. Can it do this now?

recom3 commented 1 year ago

Ok, I understand. We can focus on this then, Can you share a sample maps to do some testing. If not we will test with the default ones and keep you posted, I think we can something soon. We have been working in the other direction, to upload the trips.

Hi This is the part I want to use. Essentially draw a box and load all the ski runs within that area. As an example the area around Oslo in Norway.

recom3 commented 1 year ago

Ok, understood. We start the work and be back with the updates. Basically we will do:

  1. Map preparation in the current Web Site.
  2. Load the map in the Goggles using our current Uplink Desktop. We are currently focused in Goggles firmware, but we can accomplish this too.
recom3 commented 1 year ago

In the ski resorts bundled with goggles, the only one near Oslo is the Gaustablikk Skisenter. We will prepare the map of the are Skimore Oslo, as a sample, and make it available for download.

vaughnlfisher commented 1 year ago

Thanks! The ski resort I'm going to is Trysil near Oslo. See link https://www.skistar.com/en/ski-destinations/trysil/winter-in-trysil/

recom3 commented 1 year ago

Ok perfect! Then we will produce Trysil first!

recom3 commented 1 year ago

After some work, actual status is:

  1. Prepare Uplink Desktop to update maps in goggles->doing, on programmers desk. Good progress
  2. Prepare website with new section with map updates->doing, on web designers desk. Same good progress
  3. Prepare a test map, near our location to test accuracy->testing at this moment
  4. Prepare Trysil maps->doing. We have found an specialist in this kind of things. Good progress too Regards
recom3 commented 1 year ago

Update:

  1. Test map was OK today! We continue with the other tasks and the production of Trysil map.
recom3 commented 1 year ago

Finishing web UI image

recom3 commented 1 year ago

Hello, Sorry for the delay. It has been complex due to the work in all the 3 areas. Status is:

  1. Website deployed and now allows to select the Trysil map for future download.
  2. Trysil map produced and coded
  3. The only task missing is the Uplink Desktop upgrade. Now is being coded. It will be ready soon: will download the map from Website and push it to the Goggles. Task 3 it's about 80% progress. Regards.

Looks really good, any updates?

Hi recom3! I'm so happy that you are working on this and aren't simply trying to scam people (I love being proved wrong in cases like this). However currently the pricing of your app is still putting me off its over almost 200$ for a year's subscription which would make it the most expensive subscription I've ever signed up for, especially when you consider how much use it actually see's for the average person.

I would very much like to give this app a go this weekend, I think you should at least move to a monthly pricing model so that people can only pay for it when they need it vs half the year when there isn't even any snow on the ground!

I have friends and family who are very interested in these goggles but I sadly can't recommend them as the software support is non-existent anymore, perhaps an add supported version could be launched which would convince users of the legitamcy of this project, and typically if the adds are intrusive enough most people are more than willing to pony up the cash for not wasting time watching adds.

I very much understand the need to fund the project but currently your asking price is the same price as a used pair of goggles!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/354568082682?hash=item528de794fa:g:H9YAAOSwoiBjIYQ0

I personally think you could achieve much more growth and money by trying to grow the user base of this before trying to earn money. I'd say a closed beta of some sort would probably be the best way to help this product grow as currently it seems there are only a handful of users for your product and basically 0 marketing.

Hello. Yes! The maps is ready and we are now the Uplink Desktop so it can install the map in the goggles. We hope will be ready in few days. Regards.

I fully understand you, but trust me we have invested here more than one year working, spending lot of hours. Not taking into account the expenses in servers and so on, because to track friends and many other things, a 24h running server is needed. The project is now in a very initial state, so we are very flexible with the pricing and as the functionality is not as good as we would like, the subscription will be extended for one more year (at least). When this is mature, yes a monthly pricing will work and the source code will be published. Now is not so expensive as cryptos are much lower, in any case. The quota is more a compromise of support and as I said will be extended. Think that making this stuff to live again is a huge effort, cause it was complete dead.

We have some updates: The Trysil map we have provided works with Snow2 software version 3.0 (old version). The one in factory reset unit or the ones without any updates. The new version 4.5 or the one running in Recon Jet Glasses used a tile system, based on a Geodata service installed in the OS of the units. We are working in the new software that is able to provide these Tiles for any required area, so you can produce then yourself.

The paid subscription that we currently offer in the www.recom3.com website will be extended lifetime, as we would like to thank initial supporters.

We will offer 1 month subscriptions next season, for people that only want to use the software skiing. In any case, we can provide a free test if you want. Please check your software version when you can.
