Try hacks (IMAGE_LOAD_HACK and IMAGE_TEST_HACK), they could improve fps. Btw, why ingame, not playable - because of fps? Let see how it goes with -h IMAGE_LOAD_HACK
When you use IMAGE_TEST_HACK the performance is the same.
Using IMAGE_LOAD_HACK the FPS counter is higher but the screen gets stuck on the loading section
