Multiple Gmail Profiles / Multiple Device Profiles #99

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
There should be a way multiple profiles to choose which profile it should be
pushed with. Should there be only 1 then it should go as is. However, if there
are multiple devices for the same profile; then it should choose which device
to push forward to.
For example I own 2 phones and they both have my primary profile, therefore I
cant choose where I wish to push the information to.

With android getting loaded on everything from phones to tablets to car
computers some of them using the same Google Account, it would be great to have
the ability to chose _where_ the link is sent. I want to sent market links of
interresting apps found on my desktop PC to my phone, but I want to sent the
link of some funny youtube video to my tablet, or I want to sent maps
directions to my tablet to use it as a map.

I now have a tablet and a phone, the lack of mutliple device support is really
painful. I rountinely want to send an article I'm reading on my desktop to my
tablet so i can go read it on the couch...

Table / phone devices submenu would be a great addition for for multiple
devices with the same account.

yes please. I thought this would come 'out of the box'!!! Was very surprised
to see that you cant do it. I have 1 phone and 2 tablets!

This would be very useful to have. I'd like to be able to push web pages with
articles from my desktop to my tablet to read in bed or in the bathroom, but
navigation links to my phone to use in the car.

See the Android Market website for an example mechanism - You can trigger the
install of an app on your device through the website, and you can select the
device on which to install the app.

Since it hasn't been mentioned yet: it should support Google TV devices as well.

this is a really good idea. I have both an android phone and tablet. Now every
time I make my tablet online, I received many chrome2phone notifications that
was already received on my phone.

i can think of two solutions
solution #1. only those "unread" one would have notification, but multiple
devices inside the same "profile" would still receive the content (so that they
can check in history). this seems to be more useful but it maybe a bit
difficult for the current push-only model used by chrome2phone. at least there
needs to have some ways to check whether the request is read or not.

solution #2: when sending the data to phone in chrome browser, let user choose
which profile/devices to push to. this seems to be simply but some changes is
needed to the exiting web service hosted on appengine (e.g. adding the
profile/device id)

I now have 2 phones and 2 tablets associated with the same Google Profile,
while there are another 2 phones at home with different profiles.

This makes "Chrome to phone" quite useless as it is, and I am better off with a
QR generator extension that I can point a phone at and get it recognized with
Google Goggles, than pushing URLs to either too many or too little or the wrong
devices most the time.
