Hi @cctrbic, I've merged this change. Thank's for the update.

Consider if you'd like something like https://img.shields.io/github/release/cctrbic/redcap-api.svg, so the version number will automatically update as you release new versions.

I'm not sure why it wasn't liek this before. It's working now. I know there were some repos with legit releases whose badges weren't working; I replaced those with placeholders. I wonder if this repo was one of them.
