Post Game Thread: Fade loser #6

Support marking the logos as loser of the game to fade them (or something else)

hmphry commented 4 years ago

While possible, I don't like the idea because:

  1. Our community has asked us in the past not to spoil games. This could feasible spoil un aware users to the games outcome.
  2. We'll either have to control this via updating the css or post flair. With post flair, it's again the possibility we might spoil some one. I also think the upkeep will be hard. For CSS, it'll be a lot of work for via little benefit.
  3. Personally, I am against fading logos. I feel it hurts conversation and increases toxicity throughout the sub. We do it because it's a massive popular feature, but I just do not see the support of this implementation. Thoughts?

I was only talking about fading the logo in the post game thread not user flair or logos anywhere else. Like so:

Which should answer most of your comments:

  1. If you're seeing this you're also seeing the score anyway.
  2. The element in the PGT already has this info as [](/r/panthers "lost") which should be enough.
  3. Probably not a big deal when it's just one logo.

We could also come up with other ways of showing who won or lost in the PGT. Doesn't have to be fading - that was just the simple option I thought of.
