Clarify on wiki: do you need a SoapUI PRO license to (be allowed to) run this plugin? #127

It isn't clear to me whether you need a PRO license or not, both form a technical and a legal point of view. Could you please clarify? Will this work with the community edition of SoapUI?

Hi, thanks for question. I have updated the wiki. Tell me if it is now clearer

Thanks for getting back to me! :) And sorry for being a bit daft, but I still don't know if I can run your plugin with a runner that is not the PRO one. (I haven't downloaded the plugin yet, I'm just trying to figure out if it would be free to use or if a SoapUI pro license is required to make it work... As a matter of fact, I don't know if another runner would be available...) But it looks a bit like a pro version is mandatory from a legal point of view? If so, why not make it explicit? "In other words, from a legal point of view, you need a SoapUI Pro license to use this plugin (as it depends on Pro features)."

Hi, I have updated the wiki again to explain that you don't need license when using the OSS features.

Tell me if it is now clearer

Thanks, all clear now. :)

My question is in your pom.xml you use smartbear as plugin repository and in my project i have to define it as well. Since samrt bear says you need to have license i am bit confused how you can release plugin under apache license.

redfish4ktc commented 10 years ago

@warunap sorry for the delay I don't understand your question. Are you talking about the plugin usage or the build of the plugin and the code distribution Could you precise what you have in mind?

warunap commented 10 years ago

1) can i use your plugin in a open source project with out violating any license issues? 2) Can i distribute my project under apache 2.0 , since you are using pro plugin in your extension?

redfish4ktc commented 10 years ago

@warunap sorry for the delay 1) as far you don't use pro features, seems to be ok 2)I am not a lawyer so I cannot answer to your question. Did you see anything in the Apache license that may prevent to use the plugin?

redfish4ktc commented 10 years ago

@warunap do you need more information? Otherwise, I will close this issue
