Looks like your dev tools are not set up correctly.
I am having the same issue ... I discovered that i did not have Xcode installed (but rather a beta version) nor command line tools. I am installing those now and will [ npm install ] again.
(via terminal)
$ xcode-select -p
Xcode App
App Store > (search "Xcode") > Download Xcode 7
Xcode commnad line tools (via terminal)
$ xcode-select --install
(via terminal)
$ sudo xcode-select --switch /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer
(via terminal)
$ xcode-select -p
/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer
$ gcc --version
Configured with: --prefix=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr --with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/include/c++/4.2.1
Apple LLVM version 7.0.0 (clang-700.0.72)
Target: x86_64-apple-darwin14.5.0
Thread model: posix
(via terminal, in project directory)
$ rm -rf node_modules
$ npm install
Issue resolved for me.
