Suggestion

Hi …

I think it’s great that users can now access all settings at one location.

But for me the settings always felt a little bit hidden behind the server name.

So especially for new users, I want to suggest to make that location on the home screen more evident.

One way to do this could be to show a gear icon beside the server name. Maybe at the same size and position like the star icon that indicates an update.

Or how about using the “Better xCloud” icon instead? I saw you already do this in the stream HUD in the beta version. So why not also have it on the home screen?

And another idea for the new unified settings UI: How about adding a button with Android’s robot icon to the tab bar? And use that button to open the app settings instead of that one on top of the global settings?

Thanks.

P.S.: Just as an example why I think this could be a good idea:

Hi …

I’ve seen that in the second beta you have added a semi transparent background now, so it’s more evident that the server name is actually a button. I don’t know if this is still too subtle. Having an additional (gear) icon there would be more “eye catching”. But there are a lot of icons already, so I can also understand if you don’t want to add another one.

But I had another idea you might like: At the moment the home tab turns red when the user needs to refresh the page after changing the global settings.

But would it be possible that the tab not only turns red, but also acts like a refresh button in that case? Maybe the home icon could indicate that by having an additional little refresh icon in the lower right corner. This way, the user would just have to move left to the tab bar to trigger the refresh.

Thanks.

I’m happy to see that you liked my idea to have a reload button in the tab bar. In most cases this will make the way to the reload button much shorter now.

And although the server / settings button could still need a stronger visual highlight in my opinion, I will close this as completed now.
