ublock cosmetic filter selection and editing in not polished enough #3533

I find that ABP interface for blockable element selection and manual editing was more convenient.

in ABP, the entire html code became visible and we could have clicked on any line of the code, which was duly indented for easy understanding, and ABP was immediately showing which area is affected by that element in the browser.

Whereas, in ublock, first, the html code and indentation is altogether missing, then, we to click on one element, and the we have to click on preview button to see the effect, this makes two steps which was done in one step in ABP which was quite fast and convenient.

-- Also in ublock, in MY filters, there is no manual editing option. We have to export it to somewhere and edit there and import that back. That is again too many steps.

in ABP we could have edited right there in browser. --

Also, I don't know why you selected name of "cosmetic" for it. What does it denote and how does it help in operations. it is just filter for us. so this "cosmetic" thing is confusing if you meant that to denote something. that should be removed.

-- ABP had easy selection, deselection, deletion methods of previously selected filtered elements - by just one click in the window.

ublock has nothing, it is just text list of filters, we have to manually arrange it, but then there is one creation date and creation url line, and then one actual filter line, and then one blank line, so sorting is also not easy. We have to manually copy to some editor, do manual shifting and bring it back too many steps. ublock should have created a single line for each filter, and all these date/ url should be kept in different columns. -- in ubblock settings, if we change anything, and change the tab, or close that, the thing is not implemented, we have to click on "update now". ublock could automatically save all our settings on each tab change/ close, we need not press update now, or we could click "cancel' if we don't was our changes to be saved. Actually, while we are in settings, it is common practice to switch between tabs, and then apply all our changes in one go. We tend to forget to click update now each time. so may be ublock can check whether we have made any changes and not click update now, then it can prompt us whether we want the changes made so far to be applied or cancelled.

So on. It seems that overall ublock needs much more finetuning to make it simpler user interface.

it is on 28-palemoon-greasemonkey-ublock.

and why're YOU posting this feedback here ? This repository has nothing to do with uBO or ABP.

Whatever issues you have forward those here - https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/issues

my apologies.

I came to know about uBO only through this list, so I thought this is the place. Shall not post here in future.

Thanks. -- Rawat
