document environment variables required by reframe #3091

a list of environment variables required by reframe would be useful in the documentation in order to ensure that reframe executes properly for example HOME is required. If not defined reframe crashes see slack message

Also checking the existence of environment variable and triggering exception or error message would help diagnose more easily the issue
