See email "Re: Checking in - Credit Design for Kansas" for details and info

Testing URL: https://deploy-preview-449--regen-website.netlify.app/registry/projects/pillango

@erikalogie it would be good to clarify in the issue how it's blocked...I sent an email anyway to Leslie asking to fill out the template.

erikalogie commented 3 years ago

@rsteinhe looks like the template is still missing the longer story about the land stewards section, plus the land management descriptions, and the at a glance text.

rsteinhe commented 3 years ago

@erikalogie see email from Leslie - she updated the project template https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BCu38_Jq46Iy44aYdMIB66d1XkNNYcGYuhzpcA6GmKk/edit#gid=0 ; do you have access to airtable to download the project page data? https://airtable.com/tblojQjJYFqXwRbUv/viwqcuYIGYZv0tFNq?blocks=hide

She submitted multiple times and there are like 15 pictures and two-three videos.

How quickly can we roll this out @blushi once the design is done?

How quickly can we roll this out @blushi once the design is done?

@rsteinhe if there's no big structural changes or custom elements for this new project page, then most of it can be done by @erikalogie by editing the mock.json. Just note that for the map, the provided KMZ file should first be converted to KML through https://mygeodata.cloud/converter/kmz-to-kml before being uploaded to AWS.

@blushi I'm noticing two small things with the Pillango page

On the rest of the pages, no project developer logo shows up in the preview cards: https://monosnap.com/file/melGiyobPRQAmvzb3FmTdLUbJrEA9D. Could you change it so that if there is no project developer, the land steward shows up?

Also, I'm noticing that there is a lot of space between the SDGs and the land steward, a lot more than on the other pages. Could you fix that? https://monosnap.com/file/n5tBABrQPl4zS2frxs5UqrbBizpOuH

@rsteinhe proofread the page today

@erikalogie @blushi argh, there are some spelling mistakes and language is not ideal, it will require more upgrades but for now please update:

At a glance - 2nd bullet: Implementing regenerative agriculture and rewilding to restore grasslands and rebuild carbon stocks.

Story: The Pillango Project is a 1,101 hectare landscape rooted in what was once the world's second largest temperate indigenous grassland, the Great Plains of the U.S. Located in Wallace County, Kansas, Pillango resides in an altitude of 1,059m above sea level and receives an average annual rainfall of approximately 508mm. Pillango is situated in an area of the U.S. that has geographic significance due to its location above the Ogallala Aquifer, a vital water source that is rapidly depleting. In its original prairie form, the landscape was a herbaceous grassland rooted with native shortgrass prairie perennials. Over the last ten to fifteen years, the land has been cultivated as dryland corn and wheat. This has led to soil degradation, characterized by diminished carbon and water storage capacity. Despite this, the landscape has produced cropland-worthy yields under low rainfall conditions for multiple years, illustrating the underlying potential of its native soil bed.

below image - When Pillango’s owner Will sought to transition his Kansas cropland into climate beneficial production in 2019, he partnered with The Provenance Co (TPC). TPC is led by founders Julie and Leslie, siblings who grew up raising livestock on Kansas land. Julie and Leslie bring their institutional knowledge of regenerative agriculture and on-the-ground management experience to bear on the two biggest challenges properties like Pillango face when transitioning: Degraded soil and lack of infrastructure to sustain animal, human and microbial life. Together, Will, Julie and Leslie have been united in the philosophy that in order to restore life underground one must simultaneously restore life above ground. TPC began implementing their proprietary land stewardship protocol, Regenerative Rewilding ®, in January of 2021. In June of 2020, TPC got to work, returning both human and animal life to Pillango. Jodi, an experienced farming practitioner raised on the fierce Western Kansas landscape, is the onsite crew leader. Dan, trained as an organic soil specialist, and Roberto, an expert herdsman with 20+ years of ranching experience, oversee livestock movement across Pillango land. Together, Jodi, Dan and Roberto marry animal impact with soil restoration to rebuild the land's carbon sequestration stores. The onsite TPC team is rounded out with Dan's wife Cole and their two children, who share daily Yurt and homesteading responsibilities with the crew.

I asked Sarah to do also a quick proofread. I moved the text here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Tby94SvHoa1_1pwYItrByMXU3677qXWzTy-BqnzEaGQ/edit

Is this text ready to go then?

@erikalogie see the google doc - it's ready and reviewed now.

erikalogie commented 3 years ago

@blushi This pillango page can be put on production now

blushi commented 3 years ago

@erikalogie that's merged, once deployed I guess that you can update the projects list from the CMS to remove the "coming soon" badge from pillango and add the link.
