unable to change keyboard layout while on app launcher

Describe the bug When I'm on an application launcher like dmenu or rofi, I'm unable to switch keyboard layout, I have to close the launcher, switch to English and then relaunch again.

When I login to default i3, I'm able to switch layout just fine after adding a keybinding in .config/i3/config file But when using regolith, it's not working.

This was one of the reasons I left regolith.

To Reproduce

keep keybord layout on any language other than english, arabic for instance
launch rofi or dmenu.
try switching kryboard layout with any specified shortcut on gnome shortcuts or tweaks

Expected behavior ability to switch keyboard layout while on the app launcher

Installation Details

Regolith Install Type: PPA
Regolith Version: [1.6]
PPA url: [default: ppa:regolith-linux/release]
Host OS (for PPA): [e.g. Ubuntu 20.04]

I suspect this is related to not being able to take screenshots when the notification window is open. Something is stealing keyboard events :-)

I've tried Regolith 2.0 alpha and still facing the same issue, can't change keyboard layout while on app launcher "ilia"

Hi, unfortunately, the problem still persists. If anyone knows the workarounds - please share your experience (beyond closing the app launcher to switch the layout).
