Spike - Identify the right Calendar app and perform a POC

As a user, I want to visualize the created schedules for my event. This is created so that the user can easily manage, update and view their created schedules. This task is not to integrate but to choose the best calendar app suited for our business purpose.

Perform research on which calendar app to use, whether we design our own or display or use an existing calendar application.

Calendar apps to look out for -

• Google
• Outlook
• Third party
• custom

Parameters :-

• Ease of integration and usability
• Cost
• Allow handling basic calendar events such as, clicking on a task, rendering tasks etc

Estimation of Effort (Need to evaluate multiple calendars and their compatibility this may take a day's effort but creating a POC might take time) Medium

Definition of Done:- A decision whether the calendar app is going to be built ground up or we use an existing calendar to integrate.

If following seems feasible via a POC or existing online demo/documentation

• The calendar allows
  • Rendering Tasks based on current date range view
  • clicking on individual tasks for updates.
  • various views such as week, month, year etc
  • Ability to navigate through the calendar
  • Create new tasks clicking on a particular date

Progress so far

• Found a third party library FullCalendar that promises most of the functionalities mentioned in Definition of Done
• Currently working on creating a POC using React Component provided by FullCalendar.
• Functionalities tested so far
  • Rendering events based on current calendar view
  • various view such as day, week, month, year
  • Ability to navigate calendar
  • creating events on click
