I was browsing the online docs and noticed markdown syntax didn't render correctly (e.g., https://reichlab.io/zoltr/reference/targets.html). I went ahead and enable markdown syntax for roxygen2 comments and then converted everything to the new syntax. Please let me know if anything else is necessary to be able to merge this into the main branch.
