make package installation work with devtools::install_github() #6

Following up re: vignettes not being available when installing via devtools::install_github(), after talking w/ @nickreich we decided on this option:

2b. Do not include vignettes in src, and instruct users on Github to refer to vignettes on external site. Hadley says "If you want to display live vignettes, the best solution (IMO) is pkgdown. You are welcome to try something else based on not ignoring inst/doc, but you're on your own."
