Does your device have USB debugging turned on? I may need to include that in
the instructions...

It did not. Turned it on and it works.
Yeah, I think that's a good idea. Stuff like that isn't really obvious to
everyone :)

I am getting the same error message as the original report. I too did not have
USB debugging enabled in developer options, but I have since checked that box.
Now when I connect my phone via USB, my phone says "USB debugging connected",
but when I launch the .jar, I still get the disconnected message and can't
install the app.
