One alternative could be to be able to complete something more than once but only let the players' best completion count or to let players' updates of tasks be more visible so people can more easily react on them." - Kattapa

Perhaps one completion per year is a compromise between those who like the high expectation and those who don't. Also having a way of maintaining the retiring and entry of new tasks would help solve this problem
