Fix for issue #9 Add ref type attribute #19

This change adds ref type feature to diametric.

I rebased my forked repo after pushed my change to this master. So, Ryan's changes are included in this pull request. I guess those won't harm since the changes are already done in the original master branch.

Thanks for doing this. I don't think exposing Refs is without implications, but at this stage of the gem I'm glad to get it out there.
