1 year ago Hi, and thanks for your effort. I do not have strong feelings for my current icon, so yeah, we could update it. I just dont want to decide that on my own and invite the community for feedback and wishes.
My file format of choice would be svg (though I am not sure how well gradients are supported). Other than that, either PSD or PNG is fine. No icns, because I do file size optimizations to minimize the app size. (side note, I have my own tool for composing / modifying icns files: https://github.com/relikd/icnsutil).
As for the icon, can you design an additional icon for 16x16@2x (as seen in Finder list view)?
If I were to redesign my icon today, I would copy the style of an actual Finder window. Dark gray background, no gradient, light gray border, black outer border. The three button colors with no gradient either. Keep the radius of the window corner. Use the same gray divider line as the header divider. Maybe copy the status bar style for the lower part, including gradient and gray text color. ... But then again, I am not sure if that would look nice or really cheap. I can totally imagine that your design looks more lively than the actual thing. Thats why I dont want to decide it and ask the community what they prefer.
Oh, and if you feel really fancy, I can create an icns file that changes depending on the current dark/light appearance.

Background
I personally do a little bit of graphic design and coding on the side. I have been making custom app icons for a bit under a year just for fun and to have a cleaner app library. I normally keep my icons private, but I felt that I could, and as such, should, contribute to your efforts to improve others' MacOS experience.
I would like to stress that I am simply putting forward this option, and if you like it, then I would be honored to have contributed to this cause.
Inspiration
I was not sure what type of design to use, so I tried to make a simplified version of the current logo with a nice gradient. Please let me know of any edits that I could make to improve upon the current design, I would really appreciate it.
